HaLlOwEeN!!! & Activation (Sigma Alpha)

Then it was Halloween time! I dressed up as Barbie, Chris and Kevin were ghost busters, and Kyle was "The Situation".
Monday morning, bright and early, I woke up to register for my classes next semester, I successfully got into all of them! Then I of course went back to bed for a much needed 1 more hour of sleep.
November 2- VOTED!!!
Wednesday November 3, I had a big day, I had school then I went straight to
Tanque Verde for officer family night that I put on. Tanque Verde is a fairly new school so the parent
s are not as supportive of FFA so I did a little potluck night with a power point and activities to get them more familiarized with the program and what their students can get out of it. It was an awesome night! Then after that I went back to the school to take my Sigma Alpha test, in order to be in the sorority you had to get an 85% better, I received a 98%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then on Friday night, I had Sigma Alpha again, Family Night, it is where we get into our “families” in the sorority, get to know each other more, and do activities. After I went to CRU(a Christian college group) prayer and worship night, then to a girls dorm to watch Baby Mama. Courtney is amazing! I did not know it until Saturday, but I guess we have known each other since we were children, she went to New Hope Community Church! She goes to CRU, is in Sigma Alpha, and we are like two peas in a pod! God had a plan!

J Saturday was the BIG day!! We had activation, which I cannot really talk about because we take oath not to say anything about it, but it was really cool all the membership candidates had white dresses on and the actives had black dresses. I received "The Most Dedicated" to Sigma Alpha Award- completely unexpected!!(More Sigma Alpha Pictures to come)After activation we met with our families to eat Olive Garden, the whole gang came down for me J Before the next event we had some time, so I took them all to the bookstore and then to my apartment for some relaxation time. Nileah loves Kevin, he was teaching her Chemistry and Lauren hung up my name in my room! Then we all went bowling for a fundraiser, then to BK’s (the best Mexican food restaurant in Tucson-it was on the food network). After that, everyone left except Chris, we came back to the apartment and I crashed, I wanted to hang out with everyone but I was so exhausted I fell asleep at 8:30pm and didn’t wake up until 9am. Sunday was a study day ALL day! And today, it was just an average school day! Man O’ Mighty, I have done a lot and I feel bad I have not updated my blog in a while because I know I miss important detail of my life I would love to add but I just can’t remember a month’s worth of events.

Goals for the month:

1) Be more crafty- I have been aspiring to do more crafts, I am determined to find time to start them. First project will be a new headband.

2) Use coupons- I want to see how much people use coupons once they are clipped out, I have done all the clipping and I am going to try to use them this month!

3) Make a crafty bin for storing old homework assignments, basically a beautified filing crate!

4) Hang up more pictures and personalization stuff in my room

5) Apply for MORE scholarships

6) Get grades up!!

7) By STUDY! STUDYING! AND MORE STUDYING!

Exciting NEWS!!- Just got an 85% on my Trad Exam! Yahoo, that's the best one so far, I have hope for an A!!! And I just thought of a project for my English project, going to make a collage of stuff to show the controversy in Malaria Control! Super STOKED! And I got Google chrome for my internet (AWESOME!!) And I need to study hard, I have a Chemistry Exam on Friday! BUT then I get to the Ice Cats(hockey) game after with Courtney and some other Sigma Alpha girls!!

HOMECOMING!!!

Lets fast forward to Homecoming week!! On October 18, I had a Big Sis/Little Sis dinner for Sigma Alpha! My Big Sis’ name is Jillian, she is super awesome and I am so lucky to have her as a big sis, I am sad though because she is leaving after next semester! October 19, we stuff the cowboy for homecoming with the aggie house, then they made us dinner which was delicious. On Friday, I had to wake up at 4:30 am to be at the golf tournament by 5:30, it wasa long morning, good thing I slept at Cheyenne’s so she could wake me up.
All day I was at a hole with Jimmy Wojick and Alumni, we were raising
money for scholarships, it was very successful, at the one hole we raised $2,000!!After the golf tournament was over, I went back to the school to work more on the Auction. We got done around 3, I went ho
me took a nap and went back to school for a Sigma Alpha sisterhood event! We did a huge scavenger hunt, our team dominated!!
Some of the stuff we had to do was get in a trash can, drink out of the same glass, jumping picture, Sigma Alpha gangster sign, Charlie’s angel pose, kiss a stranger, and much much more!!After we went back to Cheyenne’s house(not FFA Cheyenne), we painted our paddles for our Big Sis’, mine turned out so girly and pink-but adorable!! I went home at 1am and had to get up again at 4:30 to get ready for the auction, which went fantastic, we raised a total of $19,000!!!
Every day I had work because we were rushing to get ready for the auction and golf tournament. I worked over 30 hours, BIG PAY CHECK!!!! After the auction I was suppose to go to the football game, but I was so exhausted I went home and slept for the rest of the day! That Sunday I was still exhausted, so I did homework all day and then we carved pumpkins- I carved a “K” with bubbles, my best work J Monday we had a professional development for Sigma Alpha- once a month we have a speaker come in and talk to use about careers, it is really awesome, this month it was about UA Career Services and what they offer. Then Wednesday I went to a Disney internship expo, so I have decided that next year I am going to do a Disney internship and take the fall semester off school, I will still get 12 units and they will just put me on leave of absence at UA, I also talked to Lauren and she want to do it with me!!! Yay!! Yay!
I also carved pumpkins(it was a flower) with the Horticulture club, I am not officially apart of the club but eventually i would like to be if they get more organized :) I was also asked by my advisor, Tanya, who is AWESOME, to write some plant science modules for grades K-5, I have some good ideas that she loves, so we will see how those go!! As well I applied for a leadership internship next semester for a company called Growing Leaders, really special company that I experienced with FFA, I still haven’t found out, but I hope I do soon!

What did the Daddy tomato say to the baby tomato on their walk.....Ketch-up!!!

WOW!!! It is already November, I haven't written in over a month, life has been a little busy, but tonight, though I have studying to do I have decided to blog because the rest of the week is going to be very stressful.>But before we get to all that, I have to tell you all about October!!!I think I am going to split it up so it is not as overwhelming, but don’t worry there will be pictures First of all it is officially fall and boy do I love fall!! Probably one of my favorite seasons except in Arizona, the only thing that changes colors are the street lights!! I went to the Rascal Flatts concert with Niane, Bonnie, and Ron, it was a blast!!!It was a pretty calm concert with fantastic music; lawn seats are perfect when everyone stays seating!! Rascal Flatts is really good in concert, their voices actually sound real. Except to get to the concert was kind of crazy, I had school until 4 and the concert started at 7, I booked it home and immediately jumped back into the car to go to the concert. On the way to the concert I told Niane about my genius business plan that we are going to start soon…..Super Excited! Then the next week school, school, and more school! Oh and I started work at the CALS Alumni Office!
I had a scholarship reception for College of Agriculture and Life Sciences where I was recognized for the RAK scholarship and getting on the Dean’s List for my GPA last semester.I had the chance to take a picture with Dean Sanders, the last scholarship reception where he
is the dean! I was super excited to see mom and dad for a couple hours!
Saturday I went to the game with Tosha and Erin, it was super fun, except it was so long ago I cannot remember who we were even playing against! But I do know we played awful and we lost! The next week it was all studying, I had 3 exams, Chem Lab, Chem Lecture, and Math, I ended up getting a 82% on my chem. Lecture and a 95% on my math(probably the best grades I will get this semester). This semester is super hard for me, all my classes are not very interesting because they have nothing to do with my major, I study hard and nothing comes out of it, but I am trying my best to stay up because I know I have scholarships to maintain. I have come to realize that I have to work really hard for some grades and that is practically all my grades this semester. But I do still have some time for fun, I am still coaching the Floriculture Team at Tanque Verde High School every Thursday, they are wonderful, each one Jeremy, Corine, Cheyenne, and Mary are all very special in their own ways to me. I look forward to going there every week to help them learn more about floriculture. Oh and I haven't really been on facebook for a month, so proud of myself, I recently went on to post pictures but that's about it! I get so much more accomplished!! Next post will be all about Homecoming and Sigma Alpha!!

So there is the schedule but now for the fun stuff, it is so great to be a normal college students, I feel like I am actually at school. So I got my Zona Zoo pass and was able to go to the first football game again Citadel, we WON!! Yahoo!! It was a great game; our football team pretty
much murdered them. I tried to go to the Iowa game but Zona Zoo was filled 10 minutes after it opened so we did not make it in unfortunately. But we did get to ride a fun little bicycle cart. So I ended up watching the game at the Aggie House, it was an intense game but we won of course!! Up to this point UA Football has a 4-0 record! Go U of A!! School o school- it has been killing me. My classes are super stressful, I feel like I am always doing homework or going to tutoring, but I am determined to keep my grades up or in the case right now make sure I do really good on my next tests because doing bad stresses me out more!

Sigma Alpha!!! I am pledging to be a professional sorority, at rush we played games and fun things to get to know each other. The next week I was given my bid and of course I accepted; I am now an MC (membership candidate). Now we have meetings every week where we take tests about history of sororities and sigma alpha. The girls are great and I can’t wait to be an active! At a breakfast two weeks ago we got our big sis’, my big sis is Jillian, she is super sweet and I can’t wait to spend time with her.
Roommates, I love the boy’s to death! They always keep me on my toes, there is never nothing going on in our apartment, lately they have been making music with Michael and Sam (adopted roommates). It is hilarious to watch because none of them are that musically talented except Michael and kind of Kevin. So basically they just make noise and try to sing. Or you will catch them playing with their model kits for Chemistry making bonds for fun- they are such nerds! It has been nice having them though because they are a tremendous help for my homework!! Ryan has moved back to Gilbert because he had a problem with school and financial aid which makes me super sad because he always agrees with me, now I always lose everything, and he makes the best cookies ever!!

Chris took me to fossil springs it turned out to be an 11 miles hike but it was absolutely gorgeous. We left his grandparents house at 8
am and got there by 10, we made it down to the waterfalls had a picnic, swam in the beautiful BUT freezing water!
On the hike back we got a little lost and hiked an extra 2 miles out of our way so by the time we started the uphill climb back we were so exhausted! I thought my legs were going to fall off and roll away- they didn’t though. We made it back to the car at 6:40 pm, by that time we were so exhausted and hungry for a cheeseburger we stopped at the local strawberry lodge for a cheeseburger and fries. It was the best cheeseburger and fries I have ever eaten, actually I am not even sure that I completely enjoyed it because I ate it so fast. On the way home I fell asleep and was out of it for the rest of the night.
And that is pretty much my life right now- School, work, homework, tutoring, eating, and sleeping!!!!

Labor Day Weekend!

Labor Day weekend I went up to the lake to see everyone!! On my way to Gilbert, I had the privilege of having Ms. Laura Stump ride with me, I always love hearing her stories about traveling the world. What a crazy girl!! Friday night I got home around 6 but Lauren and Alli were not ready to go because they went to the high school football game. I waited for a while and was super exhausted so we decided to stay until Saturday morning and drive up then. Saturday morning I was woke up by a phone call from Nileah wondering where I was, we all got ready and headed up to the lake. We got up there around 11am and hung out with everyone for a while. We then decided to go to the lake, it was so beautiful out and the water was the perfect temperature!! We all swam a lot, jumping off the towering, playing games, Nileah wakeboarded and then I proceeded to wakeboard. Well it was choppy so I stopped so we could move to a different spot, the water was ok, definitely not glass though. I jumped the first time, landed perfectly, then I go to jump the other side of the wake. Yup, I crashed.....BAD! Something was wrong, I knew because I was face down in the water and could not move, Niane jumped in the water to help me, mom and Niane slowly flipped me over and took off my bindings. I laid down on the back step and my hip popped in, thats not very good we though, so I laid on the bottom of the boat the rest of the way home. When I got home I laid down and iced and iced and iced and then iced some more. As I was laying there, all of a sudden I am hugged from behind, I was like "what in the world?" SURPRISE!! Christopher came up for the rest of the weekend to surprise me! That was an amazing surprise especially since I would be on the couch for the rest of it. Sunday my parents took me to our friend Marty who is a chiropractor so he could look at my hip, turns out I rotated my femur, ouch! painful! But he fixed it so I could walk :) So that's pretty much my labor day weekend, couch, tv, snacks, chilling in the pool, icing my hip! Not the best weekend ever but it was good to see everyone!

New Car!!

ahhhh!!

what's going on?!?

New car! So fancy!

So many words cannot explain what happened yesterday!! I am super super super excited!! Dad and mom did such a fantastic job of surprising me :) All I thought I was doing was going out to lunch with my daddy because he was working down here. We were walking down University just talking about how my job interview went, I will talk about that more at the end of the week with my post, but all of a sudden a car alarm started going off and daddy kept saying "turn your alarm off" and "I don't have a car or keys, (I kept looking around to see who he was talking to)" Then he handed me they keys and I was like "What?!?!?" To see the least I was a little discombobulated for a minute until I figure out it was real!! It is a manual 2010 Toyota Corolla!!! So excited, I have only driven it twice but I already love it and can't wait to figure out all the fancy gadgets on it!! My parents are amazing and I can't believe I have a beautiful brand new car!!

First Week Of what?!? SCHOOL!!!

The summer is gone and its time to get back in school mode, now for me thats a literal statement, I didnt know how hard it was to go back into school mode full time. Let's just say my first week of school felt like an eternity! But let's start with the week before school started. The week before school I was a little out of it because of all my procedures(that would be gastro & wisdom teeth) all in the same week, going under twice in one week, well lets just say I was on the couch ALOT!!! But it was a fantstic week because I spent alot of time with family, Chris, and my best friend KENDRA!!! I haven't spent time with her in ages and she came over and spent the whole day with me even though I was a little loopy! On Friday and Saturday before, I helped with COLT (Chapter Officer Leadership Training), which is an FFA event that Arizona FFA puts on, I did three workshops, two with my mentee and one about floriculture! Saturday after COLT, I went out to lunch with Kendra and Katie for one last goodbye before our lives change! It was so special to spend the extra time with them especially since Katie is leaving for school in California next semester and Melody(Kendra's baby girl) will be here on September 20th! After that, I loaded up my jeep and headed down to Tucson! Chris of course came down to help me get settled in and the boys had a "little" before school starts party which was fun, except I was too worried about school starting to actually enjoy everyones company. Sunday- well that flew by, I don't even remember what I did to be completely honest. Monday morning: 6:30am- Good Morning Kalea! It's your first real day of college at the University of Arizona! 9am-sitting in Calculus (oh boy its going to be a hard semester) 10am-Chemistry (I am soooo lost! What in the world is he talking about?!) BREAK otherwise known as fight everyone in getting your books and watch all the freshman struggle to find their classes. 1pm- Lab (Longest class of my life{my teacher has only been America from India for 3 weeks, talk about a language barrier} 4:50pm- DONE with my first day of school!!! Aftre this I went to the mall and chopped all my hair off!! Then I went over to Chelsea's house for dinner, she made some delcious lasagna for us and we sat there and talked for two hours about random nothing. After that home for homework and day 2 of school! TUESDAY!!! 8am- English 102 (oh boy, rhetorical analysis, lady seriously?! when am I ever going to use this) 9:30am- Trad 104 Mind, Matter, and God aka The Mind Trick Class with 500 students!! My professors favorite word/motion-BOING!! 11am- AED 301 YES! The class I am preceptoring for that I took last year and it was amazing! After school I went home and watched My Family's Wedding with Ryan....Then it was time for fajita's at Christian Challenge! Good to see everyone again- I cannot wait to see what God ois going to do on the UA campus this year :) Wednesday- the cycle starts again~Math, Chemistry, and another chemistry class! That night I went to another christian group called CRU where I know a family friend of Christophers family and his name happens to be Chris also. That was super fun and good to experience something new! I decided that I am going to make this year a year to remember so I am going to try lots of different clubs and do everything I possible can! And Thursday and Friday are the same as the rest of the week. yay for repetitive classes! Oh except Thursday I did meet with a florist because I am working with Tanque Verde FFA to help them get a floriculture team started. Which is right up my alley, he is an awesome guy and will do wonders for their team! That same night I went to Chelsea's for dinner to help Jared prepare for national office, we had too much fun and I am not sure how much we actually got done but it was lots of fun! The weekend went by fast with homework and company of friends!! Sunday I did get to go home and see Lauren & Chris for a bit! I am kind of a failure at pictures for the first week, but I will put some up soon!

How I dry my laundry!!!! Oh mommy, why did you make me so particular about laundry!(Yes, that is my shower)
